Dr. Christopher Schmidt obtained his medical degree from the
University of Wisconsin in 1989, and completed his residency in Orthopaedic
Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh in 1995. Dr. Schmidt continued his
training in Shoulder, Elbow, and Hand Surgery with a Fellowship at the
Indiana Hand Center in 1996.
Before moving to Pittsburgh, Dr. Schmidt was an Assistant
Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Ohio State University and he was the
Director of Upper Extremity Surgery at Mt. Carmel Orthopaedic Residence
Program in Ohio. In March 2001, Dr. Schmidt was named the Director of Upper
Extremity Microsurgical Reconstruction at AGH.
Dr. Schmidt has published extensively in the fields of Upper
Extremity Surgery, growth factors, and ligament healing. He has won national
awards for his work. Dr. Schmidt specializes in surgery of the shoulder,
elbow, and hand; utilizing microsurgical and arthroscopic techniques.
A member of the editorial board of 'Operative Techniques in
Orthopaedics' since 1997, Dr. Schmidt is on the medical staff at AGH,
Canonsburg, St. Clair, and Washington Hospital
