Dr. Baratz is the Director of the nationally
renown Division of Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at AGH, as well as the
Co-Director of the Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship. Since 1998, he has served as
the Vice Chairman of Research and Educational Programs in the Department of
Orthopaedic Surgery at AGH. Dr. Baratz has also been the Residency Director
of the Orthopaedic Residency Program at AGH since 1992.
Dr. Baratz has been the Director of the
Biomechanics Laboratory located at AGH since 1997. Dr. Baratz conducts
research on new techniques for elbow-joint replacement, ways to speed the
healing of slow-to-heal fractures, approaches to carpel tunnel surgery and
methods in managing wrist arthritis. In June 2002, Dr. Baratz was awarded
his latest grant from The Pittsburgh Foundation to study 'Biological
approaches based on tissue engineering to enhance bone healing'.
Dr. Baratz, Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery
at Drexel University College of Medicine, is on the medical staff at AGH,
Canonsburg, St. Clair.
